Actions

1. Invigorates the blood & breaks up blood stasis: used topically & internally for pain related to traumatic injury & to hasten the healing process of chronic sores.

2. Promotes the movement of qi: used when constrained Liver qi causes chest, abdominal, flank, or menstrual pain. It is also suitable for constraiend Liver qi patterms with heat signs.

3. Clears the Heart & cools the blood: used when hot phlegm obstucts the Heart orifices with such symptoms as anxiety, agitation, seizures or mental derangement.

4. Benefits the Gallbladder & reduces jaundice: for gallbladder disorders & jaundice.

Cautions

Contraindicated in the absence of either stagnant qi or blood stasis, & in cases of yin deficiency from blood loss. Use with caution during pregnanacy. Some traditional sources discourage the use of this herb with ding xiang.
