Dosage 3-9g	Actions 1. Binds up the Intestines & stops diarrhea: for chronic diarrhea due to cold from deficiency, dysenteric disorders, & rectal prolapse. 2. Stabilizes the Kidneys & retains the essence: for spermartorrhea & premature ejaculation. Also for excessive uterine bleeding & vaginal discharge due to Kidney instability. 3. Kills parasites: used to expel tapeworms & roundworms. Topically used for ringworm.	Meridians Kidney, Large Intestine, Stomach	Cautions Contraindicated in cases of excess or the early stages of diarrhea. Should not be mixed with oils or fats when taken to kill parasites, in order to prevent the absorption of toxin into the system. This especially applies to shi liu gen pi. Toxic: In animal experiments, very large doses of the alkaloids in these herbs led to repiratory arrest & death. Curare-like signs were also seen. Side effects in humans include dizziness, visual disturbances, weakness, calf spasm, tremors, & formication. Large overdoses can lead to mydriasis, severe headache, vertigo, vomting, diarrhea, & lethargy.
