Taste: Bitter • Temperature: Cold • Category: Clear Heat • Sub Category: Drain Damp

Dosage

3-15g, up to 30g topically as soak

Actions

1. Clears heat & dries dampness: primarily for dysenteric disorder, vaginal discharge, jaundice, & sores.

2. Disperses wind, kills parasites, & stops itching: for damp toxin skin lesions or infestations with chronic itching, seepage, & bleeding. Also for genital itching & vaginal discharge. Used both internally & topically.

3. Clears heat & promotes urination: for such disorders as damp-heat in the Small Intestine, painful urinary dysfunction, & hot edema.

Bladder, Heart, Liver, Large Intestine, Small Intestine

Cautions

Contraindicated in cases of cold from deficinecy of the Spleen or Stomach. Preparations of this herb should not be injected. May be incompatible with li lu & may antagonize tu si zi & bei mu.
