Dosage

9-15g, up to 30g

Actions

1. Treats summerheat patterns: for fever, irritability, excessive sweating, scanty urine, & especially diarrhea due to summerheat.

2. Raises & clears the yang of the Spleen: for diarrhea due to Spleen deficiency, especially in the aftermath of summerheat.

3. Stops bleeding: primarily for bleeding in the lower burner due to heat or stagnation, but also for vomiting blood.

Cautions

Contraindicated in cases of bleeding due to cold or deficiency. May counteract fu ling.
