English Translation: Clear the Nutritive Decoction
Formula Type: Clear Heat from the Nutritive Level and Cool the Blood
Actions: Clears the nutritive level, relieves fire toxin, drains heat, & nourishes the yin.
Indications: High fever that worsens at night, severe irritability & restlessness, a scarlet, dry tongue, & a thin, rapid pulse. Some patients are thirsty, some delirious, & some exhibit faint & indistinct erythema & purpura.
Contraindications: The source text cautions that this formula is contraindicated in cases with a white & slippery tongue coating, which is an indication of dampness. If used in cases with dampness, it will prolong the condition.
